:: EQ in the News

"EQ comprises as much as 80 percent of a senior executive's management ability... Work teams led by a manager with a high EQ can achieve a 20 percent increase in sales performance...It has been proven that EQ can be used to predict a manager's working performance, potential and management or leadership ability."

(Bill Tredwell, one of the initiators of the EQ concept, delivered at Forum for Leadership)

  • About EQ

    EQ means "Emotional Quotient."  It indicates an individual's emotional intelligence in a manner that  measures and quantifies emotional intelligence skills and/or competencies on a scale similar to that of an IQ.

    BarOn Emotional Quotient Inventory - EQ-i™

    There are many tests and instruments on the market today that you can take to measure your emotional intelligence, but few are fully-validated and reliable.

    Based on 19 years of research by Dr. Reuven BarOn and tested on over 48,000 individuals worldwide, the BarOn Emotional Quotient Inventory is designed to measure a number of constructs related to emotional intelligence. A growing body of research suggests that emotional intelligence is a better predictor of “success” than the more traditional measures of cognitive intelligence (IQ).

    A BarOn EQ-i full report and 45-min tele-conference debriefing session is available at a cost of $199 USD.

    What the BarOn EQ-i Measures

    The BarOn EQ-i consists of 133 items and takes approximately 15 to 30 minutes to complete. It gives an overall EQ score as well as scores for 5 composite scales and 15 subscales:
